If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed with the what has been going on in the world lately, I promise you in that you are not alone. Much like you, I can feel the suffering in the world. There is a universal consciousness of pain in the air. It is not just the hearts of humans that are crying but the heart of our dear Mother Nature. Sadly, all it takes is one scroll down Facebook for you to see what I am referring to.
I realize that I could sit there and dwell in this pain or I can lift myself up while lifting others up by doing something about it.
This gave birth to a soul-enriching movement that I am calling for you to join me in on today:

30 DAY Call for Compassion Movement
What does it take to become more gentle, kind-hearted, empathetic and compassionate human beings in a world that has trained us to judge, dissect, analyze, criticize, blame, compare, and shame on others?
You go out there in your day to day life with the best of intentions. However circumstances, news and events sometimes discourage you, makes you feel down and you might decide that it’s easier to avoid it all together and just continue living life on auto-pilot as if it’s not happening because thinking about it hurts too much. How do I know this? Because I’ve sure experienced this as well. We can change with this with the powerful force of compassion.
Did you know that compassion means “to suffer together”?
What Does Compassion Mean to Me
My definition of compassion is that it is an equal transaction of love, understanding, transforming and growth between two people. This includes you with someone else or you with yourself.
In Yoga Science, the highest principle of all is called Ahimsa which means non-injury, non-harming towards yourself or others. It means that in every thought, word and deed that we align ourselves with this important principles and apply it in our lives. We are often unkind to ourselves in thought and when we are unkind to ourselves, it makes it much easier for us to be unkind to others.
We start to judge more than we understand and hate more than we love.
To cultivate compassion, we first have to cultivate ahimsa or loving kindness toward ourselves. This can only happen if we make it part of our sadhana or spiritual practice by practicing compassion altogether. It involves being willing to sit with difficult emotions and to look at uncomfortable aspects of our personalities. Over time, it is possible to understand that the difficult aspects of ourselves — selfishness, aggression, greed, lack of compassion, are only temporary features of who we really are. They are habits that come and go when triggered by environmental circumstances.
When we can learn to nurture ourselves in this way, we can have a more open, kind and loving heart towards the world.
I will stop dwelling today.

HOW IT WORKS
Every day for 30 days, you will receive an inspiring thought and a prompt in your email inbox that you give a task or kind deed to do that aligns with the topic of compassion. This prompt can come in the form of an exercise or an experiment. I’ll be participating in the movement through social media and will do that prompt for the day along side with you. You will post a video or picture on your social media accounts as evidence pertaining to the prompt and hashtag:
WEEK 1: GIVING LOVE AND KINDNESS TO YOURSELF
WEEK 2: GIVING TO OTHERS
WEEK 3: RECEIVING
WEEK 4: SHARING
This allows our community of those who will be participating in the challenge to click on the hashtag and view what kind deeds others are doing for the day.
Not only is this challenge fulfilling and transformative, it is also fun and very interactive!
