What makes you think you’re stuck?
Isn’t it interesting to know that every road you’ve ever walked down led you to exactly where you are today? Every thought, every action, every decision. How often do you stop moving so fast in life to re-access where you are today? Is it where you want to be? And if not, what can you do to get there?
I know in my own life, there have been many times where I questioned myself wondering if I am making the right decisions, so much to the point where I find myself stuck. Imagine this, you being a hamster running in a cage non stop. That’s what it pretty much looks like when you are at the point of stuck. You’re running and you’re running alright, but for some reason, you’re still stuck in the same place. Now tell me why that is?
As with everything I write, you can apply it to any area in your life whether it is your fitness goals, your work goals, or relationships. Here are some common methods or positive flip switches I use to get myself moving forward:
1. You did it all wrong
You probably feel stuck because you keep thinking to yourself about all the tiny little things you did wrong.
“I came in 10 minutes late today and forgot to answer an urgent email, now I can’t get this project started.”
“I ate way too many extra pieces of chocolate today and now all my hard work is gone.”
I get it. You’re not alone. We’ve all been there at those points where we are so fixated on getting to our goals that any slip up we make feels like a horrible set back.
But the truth is,
You probably came in 10 minutes late and forgot to answer the email because that email wasn’t supposed to be answered, it probably would’ve set you back from a deal that you were going to make. You probably ate too many chocolates not because you were craving it but maybe because you’re body needs it since you’ve been working so hard anyway.
The point here is to reverse every key “wrong” complaint chattering in your head and converting it to how it is actually right. Producing too much chatter will only keep you stuck.
That’s right my friends, what I’m trying to say is, everything happens for a reason.
2. A foundation of experiences
You probably shun yourself and your inner critic is probably screaming loud about all the mistakes you ever made and how you can be better. You probably thought to yourself that you could’ve moved a long more quickly and so now you feel rather disappointed by your lack of progress.
But what you don’t know is that in all of this, you are actually a very blessed soul and these “mistakes” that you are making are actually blessings in disguise.
Because you are creating yourself a foundation of experiences so that when you drift forward in your life, you can speak from a place of “I’ve been there” “I know what it feels like” “I know what you’re talking about”. This allows for you to grow a lot more than you actually think. So don’t feel ashamed or regretful of anything, it’s happening the way it should.
3. Make the adjustments
You’re probably stuck because the Universe is currently sending you a message waiting for you to read it. This is a good time for to try and figure out what the message is and make the adjustments that need to be made in order to get you moving forward.
Have you felt this way before? And if you have, there is a chance that this keeps reoccurring because there’s something in your life that currently needs your attention. Look at different areas in your life and see what is calling for your attention then make the adjustments needed to move forward.
4. Enough is enough
Most of the times, the minds that we hold are our most worst enemy. It tries to tell us that if we want to continue, we need to work extra hard, “no pain no gain”, “no sleep until you die” type of attitude. I don’t blame you because that’s how school and mass media these days try to get us to be. But the good news is, you are not your mind. The core of your soul being is the real essential You. However, your mind is mostly your ego and your personality making its own stories.
Have you ever shifted to another perspective? Like coming to an understanding that what you’re doing is actually already enough? That all you need to do as Buddha suggests is “chop the wood and carry the water.”
That’s it, chop the wood and carry the water.
The common criticisms that you make up are simply creations of your own mind. Once you detach yourself from those thoughts and limitations, you will be brought closer to the limitless You. The one that strikes beyond all boundaries.
So where ever you are in your life right now, what ever you may be doing, know that you’re trying and the simple act of you trying is already enough. Stuck is a simple concept that you created in your own mind, stuck is actually a message with a reason behind it.
I know this about you. But do You?
Love and light,
