“The most dangerous weapon on earth is the human soul on fire”
As the second month of the new year is beginning, it’s the perfect time for us to review how far we’ve come along since 4 weeks ago. Did you, like many people, make a list of goals and resolutions that you absolutely wanted to accomplish this year? Did you, also like many people, already fall off board with your goals? One of the main things that keep many from accomplishing their goals is forcing way too much on themselves way too soon.
When we take on more than we handle, several things begin to happen. It becomes more complicated to keep track of the things that we are doing right so we focus more on what we’re doing wrong. It becomes more complicated to work on one thing to improve upon and perfect. It’s a constant game of who can juggle all these balls in the air the longest. Taking on too much too soon is setting ourselves up for failure. It also makes it easy for us to be hard on ourselves and as a result, we quit altogether.
Any task or goal worth accomplishing takes Time and Dedication. With that being said, it’s important to focus on one tiny small aspect as a time, changing one small habit at a time, to then surrender to much more disciplined yet freeing ideal kind of life.
Perhaps the most toughest part of beginning a committed journey to stick to our goals is simply getting yourself started. Taking that very first step without seeing the entire staircase is always the toughest. Often times in those situations, we may find that we have no idea what to do, where we’re going and find lack of trust in our Selves. When this happens, it only takes a pause of silent stillness and mediation to slow down and ask yourselves a few questions.
- What am I spending the majority of time doing? Is this activity helping me get closer to my goals or hindering my progress?
- What is one small habit that I can change and slowly adapt into?
- What works for me and what doesn’t?
- Why? Why do I want to do this? Why is this the goal?
Just simply taking the time to answer a few of those questions to your mind can give you some relief in where you are along in your journey. Revaluate what you’ve been doing to keep what works and throw away what doesn’t.
Inside every human soul is a burning fire to want to be great at something, to help better us while also serving the world. So ignite that fire that is buried in the depths of your soul. Feel it inside you and allow it to bring forth the willpower to do whatever it is that your heart desires.
As one of my favorite saying says, “When there’s nothing left to burn, you have to set yourself on fire.”
No matter how large or small, what are your goals? How do you plan on achieving them? What steps will you take?
Fuel the fire within you. And don’t ever be afraid to simply let it burn.
In Love and in Light,
