We go through the days in our lives encountering all kinds of people right? All kinds. There are those that are there to lift you up and there are those that are there to bring you down. No matter what you do in your life or how successful you become at it, there will always be an array of doubters telling you that there is no way you can be great at what you do. Not only will you have those kinds of doubters, but you will also find yourself fighting the biggest one,
the one inside your head.
The one that says,
“No you can’t. You’re gonna stay fat forever.”
“You’ll never live a happy life again.”
‘There’s no way you’ll ever be successful in your life. Just quit trying already.”
Isn’t it crazy? How people are already doubting us enough yet we tend to revert back to doubting ourselves even more? Ultimately you are the controller of your life and you get to steer which direction you want it to go in.
Let’s say you’re driving a car . And all of a sudden you see yourself reaching the end of a very high cliff, but you need to get to the other side in order to continue moving forth. The jump isn’t that far apart and is completely doable. But then you stop. And you doubt yourself of the possibilities, pain, failures, if you decide to take your car and speed up quickly to surpass that cliff and land on the other side.
Then comes the doubt. If you hit the brakes on the car, you are bound to your location and will go absolutely no where. You will simply stare at the other side, wondering for the rest of your life, if it was indeed possible or would you have failed? Pondering back and forth. Doubting your capabilities and self belief, you do not take the risky chances. Before you know, you lead a boring, unadventurous, normal journey like everyone else.
Then there are those who dare to take risks, who dare to be daring. Who approaches the end of that cliff with no hesitation, no thought, speeds up their car and takes the jump. In the air, they scream of excitement and thrill because their doing it. Then they land in happiness and joy because they did it.
Moral of the story goes like this, people are already doubting you enough. The most you can do for yourself is not doubt you and who you are inside and more importantly, who you want to become.
Too many want things yet doubt themselves of the possibilities and their own capabilities of taking the actual measures to do it.
Confront every doubt in your head and strike at it. Doubt is a central condition in us human beings. It holds you back from doing the things that you, as a precious human being, most definitely deserve.
If you want to fail, you can continue to doubt yourself. But if you want to succeed, you can surely flush every thoughtful doubt out and watch yourself soar higher than you ever thought possible.
In Love and In Light,
“Doubt comes to the door in darkness, pretending to be alone and in need of your compassionate ear. But if you let him in, he’ll bring his friends.”
JULIA CAMERON, Walking in This World
