Success comes with learning how to love adversity, learning how to love resistance, loving to appreciate the hard falls and more importantly, learning how to pick yourself right back up. I like to tell myself to fall fast but get up even faster.
I received a fitness apparel from Muscle Hustle Nutrition and something about their tag line stood out to me. The back of shirt states “Resistance is Necessary.”
In comparison to life, this tagline could not have stated overcoming adversity any better. After all, what’s the point of living when you are not being presented with challenges? Nothing motivates me more than challenges, whether it’s underestimation, loss of self-efficacy or running into white walls. Challenges fire me up to continue to fight for what I believe in. It’s all about the push and pull effect. How much can you give in your life? How much can you give in the gym? How much can you push yourself in every workout? How far can you budge in every rep? Then how much can you take?
You cannot attempt to improve your life without meeting resistance. Things will happen completely out of your control and foil your plans whether you expected it to or not. While we cannot control every aspect of our lives, what we can do is learn to adapt to a new set of priorities. So how to overcome them challenges? When you hit a bump on the road, it doesn’t mean that it’s the end of your goals. Sometimes it just means you need to create a new path and redirect your goals. What is worse is saying to yourself that you can’t control something and using that as an opportunity to make an excuse. Rather, make it an opportunity to resist the urge to quit!
If you want to see progression, if you want to see results, if you want to reach that next level of success —Resistance is necessary.
