Sweat and Burn Workout

If you’ve indulged in a few goodies this holiday season, don’t worry yourself too much. Just drink tons of water, sweat, and BURN. Here is a peek at how the majority of my cardio days look like. I fell in love with high intensity interval training in the summer and have continued to do it since. If you get bored quickly with long distance cardio (you know the moving your arms and legs back and forth in the same motion on the elliptical for one whole hour) this is definitely for you! It not only burns maximized calories in a short amount of time but also 48 hours after, it’s called the afterburn effect. You can read more about it by Dr. Christopher Scott, an exercise physiology teacher here. To me it’s a mix of circuit training and high intensity which is just my perfect kind of combination. It only takes up 15-25 minutes of my day and leaves me sweating way more than an hour on the elliptical would. Try it and you’ll see what I mean!
Start off with a good 5 minute of your favorite stretches.
AMP YOURSELF UP with a few boxing jumps. You know how boxers do the little hop hop hop before they go to throw a punch? Ohhh, I know you know what I mean! Anyways, do just that and look tough as hell doing it. ARE YOU READY?! GO!
30 Prisoner Squats. Hands held together behind head, and squat.
Run on the treadmill at 8.0 mph for 2 min
Rest 40 sec.
30 Jump Split Lunges. Split your legs into your normal lunge position except you jump to switch over to your other leg.
Run on treadmill 8.0 mph for 2 min.
Rest 40 sec.
30 Jumping Squats. Jump up and down into a low squat.
Run on treadmill 8.0 mph for 2 min.
Rest 40 sec.
Repeat 2 more times. Push yourself. Even when you feel tired, MOVE, do it moderated, just don’t stop.
Upper Body Superset
A:10 Treadmill Push ups
B:10 Hanging leg raises ( I used a pull up bar at my house)
Start with A then B. Repeat 3 times.
You should be sweating your face off. If not, jump higher, run faster, squat deeper.
Hope everyone is killing it to make it their best New Year’s ever!
